Implement UniFi AC LR- Reset, WiFi

SHARE:

Today Access Points are the most commonly used devices in both home and business. The main purpose of this device is to extend the WiFi signal through the direct connections from the Router or Switch.
In the current market different AP’s are available. Today I am going to configure the best Ubiquity UniFi AP AC LR.
I had already configured my AP for the daily use so I am moving to reset the AP and reconfigure again. We need a tool like Putty for accessing the AP, I had already installed this.
Factory Reset via SSH Connection
Step 1- Connect the device using the IP

Step 2- Type the reset command without quotes “syswrapper.sh restore-default”, then wait for completing the reset process.

The reset process has been completed and the AP is now like a newly purchased product
DOWNLOAD AND INSTALL UniFi CONTROLLER
UniFi Controller
UniFi Controller is a wireless network management application and it allows to manage multiple wireless networks or devices through a web browser. We can download this from Ubiquity sites.
Step 1– Download UniFi Controller – The same will be available in the below link
Step 2– Install setup after completing the download.
The controller setup requires Java and if it doesn’t exist, we will get the above error. After the Java installation, we can start the controller setup again.
Install UniFi Controller
Step 3 – Run UniFi installer and open the controller
Step 4 – The UniFI Controller configurations have begun from this point.
Click proceed to the localhost (unsafe) to browse the configuration page.
Step 5 – This step is for configuring the Time and Date. Set the right time and date then click next
Step 6 – The controller will find the AP device, it will take some minutes. Make sure to disable antivirus and firewall.

Step 7 – This page is to configure the Administrator account. We can get the option for configuring both GUI and SSH logins here.
Step 8 – This is the review as well as the last step. We can review the entered details here.
Click Finish to complete the setup wizard.
CREATE A WIFI NETWORK WITH UniFi AC LR
Launch UniFi Controller
I had successfully installed the UniFi Controller so we can create a Wireless Network for our use.
Step 9 – Launch UniFi Controller form the Desktop shortcut
Step 10 – Review the dashboard. We will get the device details from here.
(Some settings only work with UniFi switch and other devices)
Step 11 – From the Device tab we can find the IP details as well have the option to configure other wireless settings like channel bandwidth etc.
Step 12 – Insight tab showing the nearby devices and their details. This will help to set the correct channel for AP so we can avoid WiFi interference.
Step 13 – As per the topic, we are moving to create a Wireless Network. Navigate to Settings for setup WiFi and other features.
Step 14 – The first thing is to create a site for the wireless network. The UniFi controller allows us to create and manage different sites logically.
Enter the details for configuring the Sites. Here my site name is ‘thewantricks’. I also enable LED alert and other settings as shown in the below image.
Step 15 – The next step is to create WiFi, for this open Wireless Network from the Settings and create a new network.
Type the Wireless SSID and choose the best security options as shown above. After the right configuration, we can see the Wireless network name both in the dashboard and end device.
Step 16 – Connect the Laptop to newly created WiFi.

Topic Conclusion
We had successfully created a Wireless Network with Ubiquity AC LR. This had a basic setup of the AC LR. We will discuss more settings and features in the coming articles.
